Bayside is a non-denominational cemetery offering a variety of choices, including conventional open space lots and columbarium niches.
Established in 1869, the cemetery lies on approximately 17 acres of land on the Laconia/Gilford line on Union Avenue. It is situated directly on Paugus Bay, Lake Winnipesaukee, with approximately 1,000 feet of frontage. The ornate large entrace on Union Avenue was erected in memory of Horace Hanson Wood by his wife, Jennie C. Wood in May of 1928.
Through a bequest of $5,000 by Laura A Sleeper, the “Minnie L. Sleeper Memorial Chapel” was erected in 1954. It is a stone/masonry building that currently houses an office, public space, and storage on the first floor and a maintenance area in the basement.
Our Columbarium
In 1994, a granite and marble mausoleum was added to the Cemetery which contains 64 above ground burial niches. The word columbarium is used to describe a place that has been designated for the inurnment of ashes of those who have been cremated. Many people choose the Columbarium because it gives them physical place to connect with their loved ones. The Columbarium at Bayside Cemetery is located adjacent to the main entrance of the Cemetery on Union Avenue.
The Cemetery is governed by a volunteer, not-for-profit Board of Directors who is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the Cemetery.
